WILF BACON passed away peacefully at the Bulkley Valley District Hospital on Nov. 17 at the age of 86 years

Wilf was born in Vancouver on June 30, 1928 to Amelia and George Bacon. He started working as an upholsterer in 1943 at the age of 15 and continued for all of his life. He opened his own upholstery business, Richmond Upholstery, while in Vancouver. In 1968 he moved his family to Smithers and opened Wilf’s Upholstery which he operated until he retired in 2004.

Wilf was the commanding officer in the 204 Babine Sea Cadet Core for nine years and worked with the cadets for a total of 46 years, even accompanying the Cadets to England for an exchange program. He was an avid hunter and fisherman and everybody knew him for his smoked salmon. He will be sadly missed by his family and many friends.

Wilf is survived by his loving wife of 65 years, Josephine; sons Ron, David and Neale; grandchildren Tyler, Tamyka, Christine, Kevin, Jerrod, Aaron and Brittany and numerous great-grandchildren.
