Sherrill Darlene McCammon

1947-2008

Sherrill went to rest at her home surrounded by her family on April 10, 2008. She spent most of her life in the Bulkley Valley surrounded by its natural beauty and those who love her. Sherrill was an avid outdoors adventurer. Along with her hiking girls, she spend many hours with her pack on her back trekking around the world; her most challenging trek was completing the Chilkoot Trail. Sherrill lived her life to the fullest whether it was kayaking in Haida Gwaii or fly fishing at Babine. She was employed by the Ministries of Environment and Forests.

She truly was an exceptional woman whose courage, bravery and strength was an inspiration to us all.

She is survived by her husband Wayne Tofsrud, children Lane (Jeannette) of Smithers, Kimberly Mellroy (Dave) of Telkwa; grandchildren Janessa and Makayla Mellroy; Mother Patricia McCammon, sister Lynn Van Horn (Bill), Aunts Pearl Wall and Mable Hann of Smithers, Roberta Robinson of Chilliwack and Marjorie Burr of Ottawa, and many nieces, nephew, cousins and numerous friends.

She was predeceased by her son Scott Tofsrud in 1969, her father Oakley McCammon in 1999 and her pioneer grandparents Addie and Ernest Hann.

If friends so wish, memorial tributes in Sherrill’s name to Smithers Community Cancer Care Team may be dropped off at 3772 4th Avenue or at the BV District Hospital in Smithers or mailed to Box 3776, Smithers B.C, V0J 2N0 or you may consider contributing to Canadian Blood Services located at 2277 Westwood Drive, Prince George, B.C. (250-563-2560) *must be 17-61 years of age.
