Ruby Catherine Parenteau

October 6, 1932 – September 3, 2014

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Ruby Catherine Parenteau in the evening of September 3, 2014.

When Ruby was 16 she worked in the Miller Bay Hospital (a T.B. hospital) in Prince Rupert. Later, after settling in Smithers, BC with her husband and children, Ruby went to work in the cannery in Prince Rupert and the North Pacific Cannery. After leaving the cannery, Ruby worked as a custodian at the Chandler Park School and then at Smithers Senior Secondary School. In 1984, Ruby retired with her husband Lloyd in Frenchman Butte, Saskatchewan.

Ruby was the loving wife of Lloyd Parenteau whom she married on May 18, 1957. They were married for 44 years and together they raised a family of 10 children: 5 boys and girls; Marylou (Roy) McKay, Muriel (Ray) Scow, Lorraine (Bruce) Brady, Andrea, Guy (Lorna) Parenteau, Lloyd, Wilfred, Bernadette (David) Janzen, Jim and Gary (Vanessa) Parenteau. Sadly, she was predeceased by her son Wilfred in June of 1986 and Husband, Lloyd in July of 2001. Ruby is also survived by 24 grandchildren and 42 great grandchildren as well as siblings: Rose Smith, Bert (Sandra) Davis, Peggy Davis and Jerry (Sue) Davis. Ruby loved to spend time both in British Columbia and Saskatchewan with as much time spent with every member of her family as possible. She was a very caring Wife, Mother and Grandmother and she had great faith in the Lord. We take great comfort knowing she is free from pain and is now rejoicing in the Kingdom of Heaven.

A funeral service will be held in Frenchman Butte, Sask. on Sept. 11, 2014.
