Maude Pederson passed away at Bulkley Valley District Hospital in Smithers on Dec. 3, 2003, at the age of 90. Maude was born in Calgary, AB, on Nov. 16, 1913, to Harvey and Clara Davies, the youngest of five children. At an early age she moved with her family to Houston, B.C., and a few years later to Smithers, where she resided the rest of her life.

Maude is survived by her husband, Menford Pederson, and children: Ed (Pat) MacDonald of Victoria, B.C.; Helen (Doug) Manners of Lloydminster, SK; Don (Wendy) MacDonald of Telkwa, BC. Maude is also survived by five grandchildren: Glen (Brenda) Manners of Lloydminster, SK; Lorne (Sherry) Manners of Edmonton, AB; Robin (Greg) Burns; Ken MacDonald and Keith (Marcy) MacDonald all of Smithers, B.C. She has 7 great grandchildren and was predeceased by her son Gordon and her granddaughter, Avalon. A tea was held in memory of Maude on Dec. 8, 2003, at Pioneer Place.

The family would like to thank all who attended the tea and Dr. Venter, the nurses at BV District Hospital, and the home care workers for all their help in caring for Maude.
