Mary Borne (Friesen)
Mar. 19, 1924 to Nov. 29, 2008
…and in God’s house, forevermore, my dwelling place will be.
Ps. 23:6B (song)
It is with sadness that we announce the passing of Mary Borne. Mary’s joy in life and love of family was evident to all. Everyone was welcomed into her home with open arms, a laden table, followed by table games. Her zest for fun and cheerful enjoyment in and through everything made even the most mundane event enjoyable. She had a deep faith in God and her loving kindness blessed her family greatly. She was a wonderful, caring person who loved unconditionally and she will be sorely missed.
Mary was born to Maria (Thiessen) and Abram Friesen in Waldheim, South Russia. The family immigrated to Canada in 1926. She is survived by her four children and their families, Ross (Hedie) Borne, Cora (Ken) Henderson, Marjorie (Dwight) Barton, Audrey (Jim) McGregor, nine grandchildren, their spouses and twelve great grandchildren. She is predeceased by her beloved husband (Len) and two sons (Doug and Ken).
We would like to say a big thank you to the Bulkley Lodge for their kind care for Mary in these last few years. Also thank you to Melissa and Bernie for the extra attention they gave to Mary.
In January there will be a memorial service for Mary in Victoria, with interment beside Len at Ross Bay Cemetery.
