Lois Audrey (née Wall) Angman

June 13, 2006

Jan. 10, 1947 - June 13, 2006

Lois was born in 1947 to Nat and Audrey Wall, and grew up in Scarborough, Ontario. She often talked about the closeness and camaraderie of the family’s neighbourhood as one of the highlights of growing up there. The most special moments of her younger years, however, were by far those spent on her grandparents’ farm near Brighton, Ontario, surrounded by family, countryside, and her beloved draft horses.

Lois came to Smithers in 1966, where she soon met Lyle. The two were married on August 17, 1968, and welcomed their daughter, Natalie, in 1972, followed by their son, Garnet, in 1974. The ensuing years were busy ones, as Lois gave her all to the raising of her children, providing them with every possible encouragement and support in their academics, interests, and personal lives. She was an employee of School District #54 for nearly 40 years, working in its various schools and offices, and retained an active interest in educational issues.

In more recent years, Lois developed an active interest in gardening and genealogy, and was particularly proud to be able to trace her family’s United Empire Loyalist heritage. She was a wonderful grandmother to Anna, and was thrilled by the news of the impending arrival of her second grandchild in July of this year.

Lois was a devoted wife, daughter, mother, and grandmother, with a keen sense of the importance of family and tradition. For this, every member of her family is the richer, and will remain forever grateful. She faced her illness with dignity and strength, and retained her renowned sense of humour to the very end.

Lois was saddened by the loss of her father, Nat Wall, in 1995. She is survived by her loving family: her mother Audrey Wall, her husband Lyle Angman, her children, Natalie (A.G.) Kouao and Garnet Angman, and the light of her life, her granddaughter Anna. She will also be sadly missed by her extended family and many friends.

A memorial service will be held at 2:00 pm, Saturday, June 24, 2006, at St. James’ Anglican Church in Smithers. In lieu of flowers, donations in Lois’ name may be made to either the Lois Angman Memorial Bursary (Bulkley Valley Credit Union) or the Canadian Cancer Society.
