Saffarek, Ken

Ken was born in Smithers on August 16, 1957 and sadly lost his inspirational and courageous 5-year battle with cancer on November 1, 2014 at home in Prince George surrounded by his loving family. He is survived by his incredible wife Chris who never wavered in supporting him through this extremely tough journey as well as his children: son Reid (Janna) and grandson Raine; stepson Caleb, stepson Brent (Katie) and grandchildren Luke and Sienna; stepdaughter Carrie and grandson Tommy.

Ken was predeceased by his mother Jean and is also survived by his father Horst Saffarek (Krystyna) and siblings Kurt (Jeanette), Wendy (Glen), Linda (Steve) and Lisa (Carlo), half-sisters Ute (Kurt) and Constanze – as well as numerous nieces and nephews, friends and colleagues, and of course his beloved pets.

Ken loved life and everything that came with it – his family, friends, the outdoors and animals. He had an amazing positive outlook and truly appreciated and valued every day as a blessing no matter how much pain or discomfort he was dealing with.

An informal celebration of Ken’s life will take place in Prince George in the coming weeks. Donations in Ken’s memory are most welcome to the Northern BC Cancer Centre in Prince George.
