It is with great sadness that the family of John Pederson announce his passing on Monday, August 21, 2017 after a brief illness at the Penticton Hospital with family by his side.

John will be missed by his loving wife of 63 years, Donna, his children Annette (Bill), Mark (Patti), Don (Shirley), and Coranne (Len); 12 grandchildren, and 8 great grandchildren, as well as his brother-in-law Pete Wicklund (Barb), his sister-in-law Margo (Glen) Pederson, and numerous nieces and nephews. John was predeceased by his parents and siblings Olive (Ern, Vince), Clayton (Audrey), Evelyn (Vic), Ted (Millie), and Glen.

John was born in Salmon Arm, BC December 27, 1932 to Mathais and Hazel Pederson. He returned to live at Hummamalt Lake as the youngest of the Shuswap Lake Pederson family.

From the Hummamalt and after his dad's passing, he went with his mother to the Coast until age 13 when he moved to Chase with his oldest brother Clayton. There he finished school and went to work logging.

John and Donna were married in Chase and had 4 children before moving to Smithers in 1967 where he continued working in the logging industry.

John enjoyed fishing and hunting in his younger years.

He was involved with Smithers Minor Hockey for years and during this time held the President position.

He retired from Fink's Logging operation in 1987 and moved to Summerland, BC where he enjoyed many years of golf with Donna and numerous friends and family.

John and Donna spent 5 years as snowbirds in addition to trips to Mexico and Hawaii. Also, in 1983 they toured the United States and Canada for 4 months with their beloved dog Nicki.

John's easy going, friendly personality attracted numerous friendships and close family relationships. He will be sorely missed.

There will be no service as per request. The Celebration of Life will be held at a later date in Smithers.
