Herman Hamhuis

March 23, 2006

Hamhuis, Herman

Born in Hardenberg, Holland

May 30, 1947, died March 23, 2006

It is with great sadness that we wish to announce that Herman passed away unexpectantly, but peacefully, at his home in San Juan del Sur, Nicaraqua, of a heart condition at the age of 58.  He was predeceased by brother John in 2005.  Herman is survived by his wife Gail, daughter Tiffany, parents John and Anna Hamhuis, siblings Hans, Marg, Deeny, and Marty, their spouses, sister- in-law Irma, 16 nieces and nephews, and 14 great nieces and nephews.  Herman will be remembered with  fondness for his  ability to bring humour into any situation,  for his generosity, and good will.

Herman was raised in Smithers, graduating from Smithers Secondary School in 1966. Most of his years were spent on Vancouver Island where he worked in a management position for Coca Cola for many years, and later became involved with Real Estate Sales.

Herm had a desire to go to South America and in 1999 Herm and Gail moved to Nicaraqua...They discovered the beautiful oceanside community of San Juan del Sur, where Herm became involved in Real Estate and developement and built a home...Herm was very active in the community and his gentle manner and caring ways earned him great respect from the locals who are also mourning his loss.

We will greatly miss Herm, but we are thankful to God that his passing was peaceful.

I lift up my eyes to the hills...where does my help come from?...my help comes from the Lord, the maker of heaven and earth...Psalm 121:1-2
