George William Douglas Ford
December 4, 1933 - August 28, 2015
It is with great sadness we announce the passing of George on August 28th at the Bulkley Valley District Hospital in the presence of family members.
George was born December 4, 1933 in the Burns Lake Hospital to Alfred and Mary Ford of Wistaria, BC. The family moved to Smithers in 1938 so George and younger sister, Virginia, could attend school.
He is survived by his sons Clifford, Doug (Sue), Paul, and Terry (Rita Scanlon) and step children, Cress (Marilyn) Farrow, Sharon Anderson, Cheryl (Bruce) MacMillan, and brothers Gordon (Lucy), Donald (Gail), Richard, brother-in-law George Grimstad and special friend Myron Smaha.
George was predeceased by his parents, sister, Virgina, daughter, Linda, first wife, Shirley and second wife, Viola.
During his life George enjoyed fishing, boating, camping and most of all his family. Most of his working years were with Fink’s Sawmill, in which he took great pride.
The family would like to thank Dr. Pretorius, the many nurses and staff of the hospital who helped George in his final days.
A memorial will be held at the Smithers Seniors Activity Centre, Friday, September 4, 2015 at 2:00 p.m. Tea and coffee reception to follow at the Centre.
