Forbes died in Smithers on September 21, 2008. He was born in New Westminster, B.C. on February 27, 1929. He spent his childhood and young adult years in Prince Rupert, with a brief interval in the mid-1950s in Kitwanga.
In 1967, he moved from Prince Rupert to Smithers. In 1988, he retired, as Secretary-Treasurer of School District 54.
He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Marie, and his children, Diane Stuart (Gordon) of Vancouver, B.C., and Peter Lee (Anita) of Smithers, and grandson Michael.
