Edna Lauretta Fisher

March 3, 2006

In loving memory of

Edna Lauretta Fisher

1925 — 2006

It is with love and sadness we announce the death of our beloved mother, Edna Lauretta Fisher on Mar. 3, 2006 in Terrace, B.C. She was predeceased in 2001 by Hud, her husband of 53 years and survived by her five children, Pat Spencer (Russ), Saltspring, Penny Llewellyn, Terrace, Sharon Fisher-Schultze (George) Smithers, Hud Fisher (Denise) Terrace, Dan Fisher (Rose) Terrace, 10 grandchildren, 7 great grandchildren, her siblings Rita Kent, Harold Robson, Marian Ward, and Wayne Robson and many nieces and nephews.

Edna was born in Vancouver on June 29, 1925, the eldest of five children of Harry and Esther Robson. She spent her childhood in Kaslo and Invermere where her father was a school teacher, moving to Vancouver in her final year of High School. After completing Normal School in 1944, her adventurous spirit took her to Stewart, B.C. where she began a teaching career that spanned 25 years, taking her to many remote northern communities including Stewart, Hazelton, Terrace, Rosswood, and Topley.

Upon taking a teaching position in Terrace in 1947 she met her husband William Howard (Hud) and in 1948 she settled down to her second but most important career of wife and mother, raising a family of five children. She had a rich life, full of dear friends, family, fishing, camping, gardening, knitting and volunteer work. She was a life member of the Order of the Royal Purple. In 1988 Edna and Hud left Terrace to retire in Kamloops. Edna returned to Terrace in 2003 to spend her final years near her family. She will be dearly missed but fondly remembered for her devotion to her family and service to her community.

Services were held in MacKay’s Funeral Chapel on Mar. 10, 2006, followed by a Celebration of Life Tea at the Elks Hall.
