Doris Matilda Martin

Doris Martin passed away peacefully in the Bulkley Valley District Hospital in Smithers on Nov. 30, 2015 at the age of 85 years.

Doris was born in Drake, Saskatchewan on March 16, 1930. She moved with her family to Langley, B.C. in 1947 and went to work in a cannery in Steveston with her sister and mother. She later moved to Ocean Falls where she met Al McIntosh and together they had two sons, Colin and Cameron. A short time later she met and married Bill Martin and they moved to Kitimat for one year before finally settling in the Bulkley Valley.

Doris worked as a meat wrapper at Super Valu and Ranch Meats as well as working at the North Star restaurant. She loved to crochet in her spare time and was a gardener, growing some flowers, but more importantly, her own vegetables. She was an avid volunteer and could always be counted on to help out when asked.

Doris will be missed by her sons, Colin (Arlene) McIntosh, Cameron McIntosh; her brother Ed (Marcia) Schroeder and many nieces, nephews and friends.

A Memorial Service will be held at a later date. Condolences may be offered at www.raschraderfuneralhome.com.
