Don passed away peacefully on November 29, 2106 with his beloved wife of 35 years, Janis, and close friend Judy by his side. Don was born December 29, 1936 in Calgary. He later lived in Burns Lake, Smithers, Salmon Arm, and then his final home in Campbell River where his new-found joy was in walking along the ocean. Don was predeceased by his brother Gil and sister Maxine, and is survived by his brother Gordon (Lila), daughter Melissa (Arthur); sons Grant (Nikki), Colin, Brendan, Jason and Ric; grandsons Sean, Carl, Jordan and several nieces and nephews. Don had a 20 year relationship with cancer, and always found a way to enjoy life through all stages of that relationship.
Don was an avid sportsman in his earlier years, and played ball and hockey, curled and golfed; all to a high level of expertise. One of his greatest pleasures in his final years was watching football with Brendan.
A Celebration of Life will be at held at 2:00pm on Friday, December 9th at the United Church, 415 Pinecrest Rd., Campbell River. Reverend Wayne Hughes officiating.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Campbell River United Church for the Healing Pathway or the North Island Wildlife Recovery Association.
