Mrs. Denise Trudel (nee Meier) died peacefully in the Bulkley Valley Hospital on April 8, 2016 at the age of 77.

Denise is survived by her husband Roger, her brother Pete (Mary), niece Janice, nephews Darren, Ian, Chris and Aunt Olga in Kelowna.

She was predeceased by her parents Rosa and John Meier, and daughter Dianne.

Denise was born in 1938 in Switzerland. Her family moved to the Bulkely Valley in 1948. She was married to Roger for 57 years. Denise worked for the Bulkley Valley Hospital, RCMP and BC Tel. Their daughter was born in 1959 (deceased 1979).

Denise was an accomplished horsewoman dedicated to teaching the art of riding. She was a dressage enthusiast, a coach of the 4H and Pony Clubs, and a lifetime member of the Northern Saddle Club.

Denise enjoyed her hobbies which included fishing, snowmobiling, and overnight horse trips. She was known for her openness and generosity in helping those less fortunate.

A celebration of life is scheduled for April 14, 2016 at the Smithers Legion at 2:00 p.m.
