Bernhard “Ben” Georg
Freiherr von Hardenberg
Ben’s life tragically ended at
Bonaparte Lake on August 17, 2003 at the age of 33.
Ben was a joy to know and loved by everyone who knew him. He was generous, mischievous, funny, and hard working, passionate, and full of life. Ben was born in Pitt Meadows, B.C., on November 4, 1969, the youngest of six boys to Hans and Mechthild. He grew up in Dewdney, B.C. on the family farm and chose his career as a helicopter pilot. He lived in Kelowna for the last two years with Shawna. He never lost his love for land and dreamed of having his own farm with his family.
Ben lives on in the hearts of his fiancee, Shawna, his mother Mechthild, and her husband Wim, his brothers and their wives, Fred & Elske, Chris & Lori, Nito & Gail, Konrad & Barb, Klaus & Betty, and their families.
Ben will also be missed by Shawna’s family, the Beises, and Wim’s family, the Lambecks.
We miss him more than words can express. The family would like to thank everyone who has expressed their condolences with flowers, cards, and kind words. For those who wish to , in lieu of flowers, we would like you to celebrate Ben’s love of children by making a donation in his name to the BC Children’s Hospital Foundation, address 4480 Hope Street, Room B321, Vancouver BC, V6H 3V4, or on their website at www.bcch.ca.
