It is with sadness that the Family of Art Kerr announces his passing on September 24, 2014, at the Bulkley Valley and District Hospital in Smithers. Born on November 12th, 1941 in Smithers to parents Angus and Carol (Watson) Kerr, Art spent his life on the Family Farm in Quick. He was a Farmer and Rancher, Cat Skinner, Truck Driver, Skidder Operator, loved fishing because he got to drive the Terra-Jets, and always rode his 4-wheeler with his signature smile.

As a youngster, Art attended the Quick School and was a Member of the first 4-H Club in the Bulkley Valley raising and showing beef projects, and worked alongside his family haying, milking cows to supply the Bulkley Valley Creamery in Telkwa, and raising chickens to supply eggs to neighbours, the Bulkley Valley and District Hospital, the Prince Rupert Co-Op, Phillips & Shepard Store in Telkwa and Goodacres’ Store in Smithers. In later years, the Farm switched to mixed beef, grain and hay production, and Art also spent short periods of time Logging in the Quick area. Art liked to visit when he was away on trucking runs, and was known for his huge wave, his grin and his stories.

The last years of Art’s life were spent with Gordon and his family raising cattle and horses, returning to the 4-H activities that he had enjoyed as a boy, later with his Niece and Nephews, and finally with his Great-nieces.

He is survived by his siblings Herb, Elsie Middleton, Harold (Sharon), and Gordon (Linda Sue), as well as all of his nieces and nephews; Tim (Linda), Tony (Marilyn), Patricia Jackson, Deborah (Stuart) Coffey, Julia (Ted) Oatway, Lydia (Perry) Wainwright, Cynthia (Bob) Bergen, Terry (Denise), Barney Middleton, Rilla Middleton (Tom Bosch), Steven (Mary) Middleton, Colin (Leanna), Lisa (Wayne) Reay, Dallas (Laine), and Darvin; their children Trista and Brice Kerr, Cameron, Kimberly and Christopher Jackson, Chad, Sean and Ryan Coffey, Amanda and Stephanie Oatway, Wendell Wainwright, Jennifer Kerr, Katlynn Ward, and Jerica and Trichelle Reay; as well as many Cousins, friends and neighbours.
