Art died suddenly on June 12, 2006, at the age of 64. Art is survived by his sister Joan (Luther) Muir of Princeton, B.C., and his nieces Janice and Karen (Jarrett and Spencer), his son Andrew (Lori) and daughter Lee (David), his partner Mamie Angus and her children Kennersley, Liberty (Matt and Baby Sophie) and Georgia.
Art grew up in Smithers and was educated at UBC and MIT. Art was widely respected as a family man, businessman, environmentalist, sports enthusiast and philanthropist.
Art died doing what he loved, flying his Cessna 182, in the remote B.C. wilderness to his latest project, a hydroelectric plant for a new sustainable economy.
A tribute to his life was held at his home in Vancouver with 500 family, friends and business associates in attendance.
