Alois “Louis” Schibli was born in Busslingen, Switzerland on Dec. 23, 1919. After immigrating to Canada with his family in 1937, Louis met the love of his life, Trudi. They were married on September 5, 1950 and together they lived in Smithers actively involved in the lives of their large, loving family and numerous friends.
On Jan. 5, 2015 Louis passed peacefully in Surrey, B.C., where he spent his last golden years, enjoying the company of his daughters and extended family. He is survived by his sister, Agnes Mathews, his children George (Rose), Margareth (John), Irene (Joe), John (Jo-Anne), Mary Jane (Allan), Andrew (Donna), Robert (Ariane) and many grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He was loved by many and will be forever remembered by all of those who had the honour of being a part of his positive life.
A funeral was held in Surrey, B.C. on Jan. 8, 2015. A memorial is to follow in Smithers, B.C. at a later date, to be announced. In lieu of flowers a donation to the CNIB would be appreciated.
