ALMA BERNICE BLABEY

Alma Blabey was born November 8, 1932 in Pine River, Manitoba.

She passed away peacefully at the age of 81 years in Hazelton, BC on August 18, 2014.

Alma was the second child of Ina Ann and John Grant Mackenzie Parsons.

She grew up in Manitoba alongside the Duck River with her two brothers Donald and Norman.

She met the handsome love of her life, Neil Blabey and they were married on April 5, 1950 in the Pine River United Church.

The fall of 1950, they moved out to Lake Babine, BC where they started their family of eleven children: Neil, Luke, John, Tom, Rena, Clifford, Garth, Ray, Leonard, Edward, and Gary.

In 1957, the family moved to the Hazelton area.

Alma had many interests: gardening, quilting, knitting, baking, and was very active in her church community. In her last years she enjoyed spending every Sunday at the country market selling her products from her garden and kitchen.

Alma was predeceased by her parents, infant sister Glena, brother Donald, her husband, her brother Norman, and son’s Edward and Ray.

Alma is survived by her half-brothers Gerald, Lawrence, and Ralph, her half-sister Lorna; daughter Rena (Ralph); sons Neil (Lynn), Luke (Sheryl), John, Tom (Marg), Clifford (Sandra), Garth, Leonard (Laura), and Gary (Patricia); daughter In-Law Shannan,; 23 grandchildren; 20 great grandchildren; cousins, nieces, and nephews.

A Funeral Service was held on Friday, August 22, 2014 in the Seventh-day Adventist Church in Hazelton, BC with interment in the Two Mile Cemetery.
