UPDATE: Shaylee Perreault contacts friend to say she’s okay

Teenager located 24 hours after missing persons alert issued by RCMP

UPDATE: The family of Shaylee Perrault is reporting that the teenager has been safely located approximately 24 hours after the RCMP asked for the public’s assistance finding her.

According to media reports, the teenager’s mother Katrina said her 14-year-old daughter contacted a friend this morning (Thursday) to say she was okay.

The grateful mother also said she’s overwhelmed by the support she received in Smithers during the two-day search: “I would just like to say thank you to everybody for all the support and the comments and the messaging and the love that everybody showed — I’m very grateful for everybody — Shaylee’s safe and sound and I’m still in shock — I don’t know what else to say.”

There’s no indication on where the girl has been since reportedly being last seen at a gathering at Riverside Park.
