UPDATE:

Flooding is reported by DriveBC two kilometres west of Moricetown. The road is reduced to single lane alternating traffic as of Friday morning at 10 a.m.

Rain warning and flood watch is in effect in the Bulkley Valley.

There is a total forecast of 40 to 50 mm of rain by Friday.

The total rainfall amount is expected to hit communities in Smithers, Telkwa and Houston and slightly fewer amounts for Burns Lake.

According to Environment Canada, this weather situation combined with spring snow melt will lead to rising river levels and may increase the risk of flooding.

“Quickly flowing water and the adjacent river banks are potentially unsafe. Don’t approach washouts near rivers, creeks and culverts, and keep away from creeks and river banks,” stated on the website.
