Identify of man killed in motor vehicle accident over the weekend released

Randy Basil Mitchell, 47, of Smithers was a rear-seat passenger in a vehicle that left the highway and rolled on Highway 16

The identity of a man killed in a motor vehicle accident near Moricetown last week has been released.

Randy Basil Mitchell, 47, of Smithers was a rear-seat passenger in a vehicle travelling westbound that left the highway and rolled on Highway 16 at Corya Creek in Moricetown at approximately 1:30 p.m. on Saturday, April 4.

He was pronounced dead at the scene.

The other three occupants were transported to Bulkley Valley District Hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

The collision results in Highway 16 being down to single lane, alternating traffic for roughly 11 hours.

The B.C. Corners Service and RCMP Traffic Services continued to investigate this death.
