Highway 16 closed 20 km west of New Hazelton

A fatal motor-vehicle accident has closed Highway 16 about 20 kilometres west of New Hazelton. The crash occurred at about 1 p.m. on Wednesday.

Emergency responders estimate that the highway will remain closed in both directions until approximately 10 p.m. No alternate route is available.

An RCMP investigation into the accident is ongoing. More details will become available after police have notified the victims' families.
