A fire destroyed a shed near Old Babine Lake Road and Upper Viewmout Road on May 4.

The fire broke out shortly before noon.

The Smithers Fire Department spent an hour and a half battling the blaze.

Nineteen members attended, 15 from Smithers and four from Telkwa with five apparatuses.

According to Smithers Fire Chief Derek Dickson, there were no injuries and no other structures were involved.

“Fire did extend slightly into a small stand of trees but did not progress or pose a major concern,” he added.

The cause is still under investigation.

Smithers Fire Rescue encourages homeowners to be aware of potential hazards in their homes and other buildings on their properties and take steps to reduce the risk of fire.
